The Montessori Method

What is Montessori?

Are you apprehensive about the quality of education your child will receive in a traditional school setting?
Are you looking for an environment where your child will be seen as an individual and where his/her educational, social and emotional needs will be met?

Unlike traditional education, Montessori stresses self-directed learning, on your child’s timetable, and success is measured by his/her mastery of concepts. The Montessori Method teaches children to be independent, capable, motivated, thinking individuals and frees each child’s potential for self-development in a prepared environment.

Children cannot develop to their highest level if they are not given the proper tools and environment for learning. The Montessori environment mirrors your child’s developmental levels. Your child interacts with his/her environment, directs his own learning, and learns through discovery, with very little adult intervention. The adult is an observer and a guide.

Benefits of Montessori at Home

The concept of Montessori At Home Educational Consulting Services grew from conversations I’ve had over the years with parents concerned about the education of their young children.

Parents are looking for a viable alternative to public education and there are many private nursery and kindergarten programs available. But the cost of these pre-schools is prohibitive to many families. For Montessori schools in the Northern New Jersey area, the 2007-2008 tuition cost for 3 half days (2-1/2 to 3 hour session) averages over $5,400 while 5 half days averages close to $6,500.

Montessori at Home will give you, the parent, the tools to create this environment in your own home and provide the benefits of Montessori education to your own child. Parents are the child’s first teacher. They are his role model and his security and give unconditional love and nurturing. I will empower you to arouse the capabilities and further the development of your child. It is my goal to assist parents in this vital and complex task by giving them the tools to guide their child’s development, using the Montessori Method. I will explain the educational philosophy, and demonstrate how to bring it to life in your home.
